On a Kindle 8th generation, there isn't a physical home button. To navigate to the home screen, tap {not pull down}. the top left of the screen to reveal the toolbar. Then, tap the "Home" or "Library" option, which is often represented by an arrow pointing back. This will take you to the main home screen.
